Disaster

Gillian Clarke has talked about a train crash in her poem 'On the Train.' Each day (unfortunately) we are surrounded by horrendous events, you only have to turn on the news to see these stories. An event which changed the world was 9/11. Have a look at these pictures and write down some adjectives about how you feel, how people in NYC that day might have felt, how the people trapped in the Twin Towers may have felt and you could even consider the emotions of the people on the plane. Obviously (and thankfully) some (or most I hope) of us have never experienced anything anywhere near as terrifying at this but just really spend some time thinking and imagining. Once you have something down, have a go at writing your own poem based on this event. It wreould be really interesting to hear some of these during the lessons.

On the Train - Gillian Clarke

I hope you have all had a great christmas and you have a very happy new year but somewhere in the middle (right now!) why not do some poetry work!? I am going to be posting some questions/revision tasks and some information on the poems from Gillian Clarke herself to have a look at. Please use your own blogs to answer the questions but when you do leave a comment on here so  know where to look (I'm still not great with the whole 'following' thing!) Have fun!! :-) :-)
